Codependency & Addiction Therapy
Gottman Method focused couples therapy in Southern California
The Struggle
Do you find yourself constantly managing everyone else's feelings, fixing problems that are not yours to solve, or walking on eggshells around someone struggling with addiction? It is exhausting to care deeply about a partner, family member, or loved one while losing your own sense of peace, identity, and control. Over time, trying to keep the peace or support someone through active addiction or recovery creates an invisible wall between you and your own needs. You might find yourself living in constant hypervigilance, sacrificing your own physical and emotional health, and wondering where your life went.
How Therapy Helps
Through a compassionate, evidence-based therapeutic process, we work to untangle your own identity and peace from the chaotic cycles of addiction and codependency. Therapy offers a safe, neutral space to decode the hidden relationship patterns that keep you feeling trapped, set healthy boundaries without guilt, and regain control of your own life. Whether you are dealing with a partner’s substance use, recovering from codependent relationship patterns, or seeking your own path to personal recovery, we will equip you with practical tools to rebuild self-worth, establish clear limits, and cultivate authentic, balanced connections.

Codependency often looks like prioritizing everyone else's needs and emotions ahead of your own, struggling to set boundaries, or feeling responsible for other people's happiness and stability. If you find yourself exhausted from managing others while losing touch with your own needs, that is often a sign this work could help.

No. My goal is not to tell you what choices to make about your relationships. Therapy helps you gain clarity on your feelings, identify unhealthy interaction loops, and learn how to set clear boundaries so you can make informed decisions about your life and relationships.

Helping supports someone's growth, independence, and accountability. Enabling occurs when you step in to shield someone from the natural consequences of their choices, which often prolongs unhealthy behaviors and leads to burnout for you. In therapy, we learn how to replace enabling behaviors with healthy, supportive boundaries.
-

You do not have to wait for your loved one to enter recovery before seeking support for yourself. Therapy focuses on helping you rebuild your emotional resilience, navigate severe stress, establish personal boundaries, and break free from the chaos of someone else's active addiction.

Yes, if that is helpful for you. I am familiar with 12-step recovery models like Al-Anon, CoDA (Codependents Anonymous), and AA/NA, as well as non-12-step approaches like SMART Recovery. We can integrate these frameworks into our therapeutic work based on your personal preferences and needs.
